Every booty is a good booty

Bootycorp is a Portland-based event producer known for their over-the-top, themed dance parties that celebrate local house music and being ridiculous.

Background

When I moved to Portland, the only people I knew were people who love house music. I’m not all that deeply invested in the music itself, but I am very much on board with the pageantry.

Bootycorp is the brainchild of John Tucker, a local DJ and dear friend. He approached me to create the art for the debut Bootycorp party in late 2019, which ended up being a huge success. We only got the chance to throw one more before the world shut down, but we’re excited to get back to booty shakin’ soon.

Bootycorp Incorporated

The debut Bootycorp party was called Bootycorp Incorporated. It was a ridiculously office-themed affair. Defining this style was a bunch of fun. I referenced signature dance moves and trademark outfits of friends in the community for many of the poses and lewks. The event sold out weeks in advance.

Very Important People

Very Important People was the second Bootycorp event. The party was designed to feel like everyone is a VIP. There was a red carpet, a limo photobooth, and the stage was set up in the middle of the dance floor. This one also sold out real fast.

As the night went on, I noticed many party-goers’ outfit choices seemed to emulate the poster. Seeing that play out sparked a lust for influence in me that I still haven’t quite figured out.

Stickers

I threw in some stickers for the two headlining DJs. John is on the left :)
